The Anthology… So Far is the 19th album, respectively the fifth live album and the first live compilation album by Ringo Starr after the separation of the Beatles . It was released on January 19, 2001 in the US and on February 5, 2001 in the UK.
History of origin
After the release of the three live albums Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band , Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band Volume 2: Live from Montreux and Ringo Starr and His Third All-Starr Band Volume 1 , a compilation album was put together from these albums. In addition, previously unreleased songs from the 1995, 1997 and 2000 tours were also used, a total of 20 songs, with the third CD being fully stocked with new live material. Songs from the 1997 and 2000 tours have not yet been used.
Between April 28th and June 7th, 1997 the Fourth All-Starr-Band toured the USA with 25 concerts. The same band toured Europe from August 6th to September 5th, 1998.

Live material from the Fifth All-Starr Band, which toured the USA from February 12 to March 28, 1999, was not used.
Cover design
The covers of the US and European versions differ significantly. The designer of the cover is not mentioned in the CD booklet. The CD is accompanied by an illustrated twelve-page booklet that contains information about the songs, the musicians, the tours and the history of the All-Starr Band .

- A promotional CD entitled The Anthology… Sampler was produced for promotional purposes , which contained ten songs (Boys , Life in the Fast Lane , Will It Go Round in Circles , Iko Iko , Groovin ' , You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet , Show Me the Way , I Feel Free , I Hear You Knocking , With a Little Help from My Friends) from the triple CD.
