Give More Love is the 35th album or the 19th studio album by Ringo Starr after the Beatles split up . It was released on September 15, 2017 in Germany and Great Britain (USA: September 14, 2017).

History of origin

Since the recording of his studio album Y Not , Ringo Starr took over the responsible role of the first producer ; at Ringo 2012 he was the first sole producer, which he continued with the album Postcards from Paradise and Give More Love .

The exact recording times for the album Give More Love are not documented. The studio recordings were made in the Rocca Bella Studio, which is located in a Ringo Starr guest house in Los Angeles , and the musicians were recorded depending on the availability of the individual artists.

As with the previous album Postcards from Paradise , prominent musicians were again involved in this album. It worked, among others, Joe Walsh , Paul McCartney , Peter Frampton , Dave Stewart , Timothy B. Schmit , Steve Lukather and Jeff Lynne with. Ringo Starr was the composer or co-composer of all ten songs.

Starr's original idea was to record another country album with Dave Stewart in Nashville after Beaucoups of Blues from 1970 , but the recordings were not made due to touring obligations. The album includes several musical styles, for example: We're on the Road Again (Rock), Show Me the Way ( Pop ), So Wrong for So Long ( Country ), Standing Still (Country-Rock), King of the Kingdom ( Reggae ) and Shake It Up ( Rock 'n' Roll ).

The song Electricity is the fifth homage to his time before the Beatles after the songs In Liverpool from the album Ringo 2012 , The Other Side of Liverpool from the album Y Not and Liverpool 8 from the album of the same name, which are addressed to his hometown, with partly autobiographical texts are. Rory and the Hurricanes , from the album Postcards from Paradise , was the name of the band in which Ringo Starr played drums for the Beatles. Electricity is lyrically about the guitarist, Johnny Guitar (real name: John Byrne) of the music group Rory Storm & the Hurricanes .

The song Laughable deals with the change of government in the USA in 2016/2017 and its consequences from the point of view of Ringo Starr and Peter Frampton without mentioning the name of Donald Trump .

The last four songs on the CD are new recordings of Ringo Starr songs. In Back Off Boogaloo , originally a single A-side in March 1972, including the original demo from 1972 was used. Don't Pass Me By originally came from the Beatles album The BEATLES . Photograph was originally Ringo Starr's first number one hit in the United States and was first released on the Ringo album. The song You Can't Fight Lightning was originally supposed to be released on the album Can't Fight Lightning in March 1981 , but the record company refused to release it in this form, so the song was first released in September 1994 when the album was re-released Stop and Smell the Roses took place.

Give More Love is Ringo Starr's fifth album to be released by Universal .
