Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band Volume 2: Live From Montreux is the 14th album and the second live album by Ringo Starr after the Beatles split up . It was released on September 14, 1993 in the United States. The album was not released in Germany or Great Britain.

History of origin

After the release of the commercially unsuccessful studio album Time Takes Time in June 1992, Ringo Starr went on tour again with his Second All-Starr Band . From June 2nd to June 28th 1992 the All-Starr Band gave 20 concerts. This was followed by his first European tour with 17 concerts from July 2 to 23, 1992.

On July 13, 1992, the concert in Montreux ( Switzerland ) was recorded and released on CD and live video.

After the album was released, the record contract in the USA with the Rykodisc label was not renewed.

Six of the fifteen songs on the CD were sung by Ringo Starr.

Cover design

The cover designed Steven Jurgensmeyer. The cover photos were taken by Henry Diltz and Kantanzaro & Mahdessian. The CD is accompanied by an illustrated twelve-page booklet containing information about the album.

  • It was not published in LP format.
  • On November 17, 1993, a VHS video cassette under the title Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band Live From Montreux was sold on the MPI Home Video label in the USA . In Japan the concert was also sold on laser disc . A release on DVD has not yet taken place.
  • Another concert on July 6, 1992 at the Empire Theater in Liverpool was also recorded and partially broadcast on April 18, 1993 in the United States on the Disney Channel .
  • For advertising purposes for an American credit card company, an EP with the following four songs was released in the USA in 1995 : Yellow Submarine , It Don't Come Easy , Photograph and With a Little Help from My Friends . The first and fourth songs are from the CD Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band Volume 2: Live From Montreux , the second and third songs from the CD Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band .

Re-releases

The CD release from 1993 has not yet been remastered.
