Postcards from Paradise is the 34th album, respectively the 18th studio album by Ringo Starr after the separation of the Beatles . It was released on March 27, 2015 in Germany (UK: March 30, 2015, USA: March 31, 2015).

History of origin

Since the recording of his studio album Y Not , Ringo Starr took over the responsible role of the first producer ; At Ringo 2012 he was the first sole producer, which he continued with the album Postcards from Paradise .

The exact recording times for the album Postcards from Paradise are not documented, they stretched from autumn 2013 to November 2014. Ringo Starr's current All-Starr Band, which has been performing in the same formation since 2012, consists of Steve Lukather , Gregg Rolie , Todd Rundgren , Richard Page, Mark Rivera and Gregg Bissonette harmonized optimally humanly for the first time, according to Ringo Starr, which had a positive effect on the creative process behind the creation of the album. The tour musicians, with the exception of Mark Rivera, worked on the album Postcards from Paradise as studio musicians and co-composers. Island in the Sun was composed by the All-Starr Band during the tour. The studio recordings were made in the Rocca Bella Studio, which is located in a Ringo Starr guest house in Los Angeles , and the musicians were recorded depending on the availability of the individual artists.

Compared to the previous album, Ringo 2012 , more prominent musicians were involved in this album. It worked, among others, Joe Walsh , Richard Marx , Peter Frampton and David A. Stewart and the (former) member of the All-Starr Band Todd Rundgren with. Ringo Starr was the composer or co-composer of all eleven songs. The song Rory and the Hurricanes is the fourth homage to his time before the Beatles after the songs In Liverpool from the album Ringo 2012 , The Other Side of Liverpool from the album Y Not and Liverpool 8 from the album of the same name, which are reminiscent of his hometown, with some autobiographical Texts that are directed. Rory and the Hurricanes was the name of the band in which Ringo Starr played drums for the Beatles. In an interview, Starr mentioned that several book publishers would like to publish an autobiography of his, but the condition is that they focus thematically on the time with the Beatles. That is the reason why he processes parts of his life musically. The song Postcards from Paradise contains lyrics mainly from Beatles songs, other songs on the album are also musically reminiscent of the Beatles.

Postcards from Paradise is Ringo Starr's fourth album to be released by Universal .
