Ringo 2012 is the 32nd album or the 17th studio album by Ringo Starr after the separation of the Beatles . It was released in Europe on January 30, 2012 (USA: January 31, 2012).

History of origin

Since the recording of his studio album Y Not , Ringo Starr took over the responsible role of the first producer , at Ringo 2012 he was the first sole producer.

What is striking about the album is the relatively short total playing time of less than half an hour with only nine songs; Ringo 2012 is thus the shortest album with the lowest number of songs that Ringo Starr has released to date. The title of the album Ringo 2012 is an allusion to the name of the album Ringo from 1973. The recording times for the album are not documented, they probably extended over the year 2011.

Compared to the previous album Y Not , fewer prominent musicians were involved in this album. It worked, among others, Joe Walsh and David A. Stewart and the (former) member of the All-Starr Band Edgar Winter with. Ringo Starr was the composer or co-composer of seven of the nine songs. The album also contains two so-called oldies: Rock Island Line , which was a hit single for Lonnie Donegan in 1955 , and the song Think It Over , which was a hit single for the music group The Crickets in 1958 . The title Wings is a re-recording of a song that was released in September 1977 on the album Ringo the 4th . Step Lightly is another new recording that originally appeared on the Ringo album in November 1973 . The song In Liverpool is the third homage after The Other Side of Liverpool from the album Y Not and Liverpool 8 from the album of the same name to his hometown with partly autobiographical text. After Peace Dream from the previous album, Anthem is another appeal for peace.

Ringo 2012 is Ringo Starr's third album to be released by Universal Music Group .
