Vini Poncia
Vincent "Vini" Poncia, Jr. (born April 29, 1942 ) is an American songwriter and record producer .
Life
1960s
In the 1960s, Poncia began a songwriting partnership with Peter Anders. Together they released the album The Anders and Poncia Album, produced by Richard Perry in 1969 . Her songs have been recorded and interpreted by The Ronettes , Bobby Bloom and Darlene Love , among others . Anders and Poncia were also members of The Trade Winds and The Innocence groups . The debut single from The Tradewinds, New York is a Lonely Town, reached 1,966 Place 32 of the Billboard Hot 100 - Charts .
In 1968 Anders and Poncia founded MAP Records in New York City with Frankie Maluso . The company owned a small recording studio, in which a total of sixteen albums had been created by the end of the joint work .
1970s
In the 1970s, Poncia became Ringo Starr's songwriting partner . His songs have appeared on several albums: Ringo (1973), Goodnight Vienna (1974), Ringo's Rotogravure (1976), Ringo the 4th (1977), and Bad Boy (1978). He has also produced albums for Melissa Manchester and Portrait of Lynda Carter . As a songwriter, he has written for Jackie DeShannon and Tommy James, has co-written the song You Make Me Feel Like Dancing by Leo Sayer , and produced the albums Open Your Eyes and The Faraghers by The Faragher Brothers .
In 1978 he produced the self-titled solo album by Peter Criss , and was subsequently hired to produce the 1979 album Dynasty by the group Kiss . Alongside Paul Stanley and Desmond Child, Poncia is co-author of the hit single I Was Made for Lovin 'You and the title Sure Know Something and Dirty Livin'.
1980s
Poncia also produced the 1980 published Kiss album Unmasked , 1981, the second album of the group Tycoon , Turn Out The Lights. A year later he worked again with Peter Criss when he produced his second album Let Me Rock You , which was created after the separation from Kiss . He also produced the Detroit-based band Adrenalin, whose song Road of the Gypsy was part of the 1985 soundtrack for the film The Steel Eagle . His last known work was co-songwriting on five tracks of the 1989 Kiss album Hot in the Shade .
successes
Of the titles written or co-authored by Poncia, twelve songs made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States , eight of which were top 40 hits, while two were top ten hits. Only one song made it to number one on the Billboard singles chart: You Make Me Feel like Dancing. In Great Britain Poncia was less successful: ten top 100 titles are compared to six top 40 and one top ten hit (You Make Me Feel like Dancing) , none of Poncia's titles reached number one.
