Time Takes Time is the 13th album or the tenth studio album by Ringo Starr after the Beatles split up . It was released in Great Britain (USA: May 22, 1992) on June 29, 1992.
History of origin
After the release of his last album Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band in October 1990, the new Ringo Starr song You Never Know appeared on the soundtrack album of the feature film Curly Sue in November 1991 , which was also released as a CD promotional single in the USA . This song came from the recording of Ringo Starr's new studio album Time Takes Time , his first since Old Wave , which was released in June 1983.
The concept of the production was taken over from the album Stop and Smell the Roses , as in turn several producers were hired for the album.
In February 1991, Ringo Starr signed a new record deal with the Private Music label , which essentially sells New Age music . The contract with Private Music was limited to the one album release.
The first recordings for the album began in May 1991 at Rumbo Recorders Recording Studios and Ocean Way Studios in Los Angeles , where the songs Don't Go Where the Road Don't Go, After All These Years, Don't Be Cruel (only released on CD single) and the previously unreleased song Call Me were recorded. The producer of these recordings was Jeff Lynne , who produced the Beatles song I Call Your Name for Ringo Starr in 1990 , which was only released on the video cassette The World's Greatest Artists Sing Lennon: A Tribute in April 1991 .
In June 1991 Phil Ramone produced the songs All in the Name of Love, Runaways and the previously unreleased song Love Is Gonna Get Ya at Capitol Studios and Andora Studios in Los Angeles .
In September 1991 the Conway Studios (Los Angeles) recorded the songs Weight of the World and Don't Know a Thing About Love with producer Don Was , and in January and February 1992 the songs I Don't Believe You were recorded , Recorded In a Heartbeat and What Goes Around .
Also in September 1991, Peter Asher produced the following songs at Conway Studios, The Hop and Studio F in Los Angeles: Golden Blunders, Everyone Wins (only released on the CD single in Germany) and the Paul McCartney composition Angel in Disguise , which was previously unpublished.
Some of the songs on the album are partly reminiscent of the music of the Beatles in the mid-1960s and thus differ significantly from the previous albums.
Despite intensive promotional work by Ringo Starr, the album was not commercially successful.
Cover design
The cover designed Mark Ryden and Kurt De Munbrun. The cover photos were taken by Kantanzaro & Mahdessian. The CD is accompanied by an illustrated 16-page booklet that contains information about the songs and the album as well as the lyrics.
