Neil Stubenhaus (born July 18, 1953 ) is an American musician.

His musical career began as a drummer, at the age of 12 he decided to become a bass guitarist . He graduated from Berklee College of Music . He completed this course in 1975. This was followed by several guest appearances with well-known or emerging musicians such as Vinnie Colaiuta and John JR Robinson .

Around 1977 he was hired by Blood, Sweat & Tears and worked with David Clayton-Thomas on his first solo album. His breakthrough came in 1978 when he toured with Larry Carlton .

Since 1979 he has been one of the most successful bass guitarists. It is represented on over 600 albums, of which over 70 were nominated for a Grammy. He was involved in 20 songs that could win a Grammy. In addition, there is work on over 150 film music (e.g. Matlock, Magnum, Jake and McCabe), as well as other jingles.

He was the main bassist for Barbra Streisand and Quincy Jones for over 20 years . But he is also represented on the albums of the following musicians or went on tour with them: Elton John , Rod Stewart , Billy Joel , Frank Sinatra , Nancy Wilson , Patti LaBelle , Michael Bolton , Ricky Martin , Dan Fogelberg , John Fogerty , Cher , Joe Cocker , Bobby Caldwell , Taylor Dayne , Vince Gill , George Benson , Al Jarreau , Don Henley , Luis Miguel , Julio Iglesias , BB King , Michael McDonald , Bette Midler , Hanson, The Corrs, Milton Nascimento, Pointer Sisters , Eros Ramazzotti , Lee Ritenour , Lionel Richie , Diane Schuur, David Benoit , Tom Scott, Kirk Whalum , etc.
