Taylor Dayne (* 7. March 1962 in Baldwin , Long Iceland , New York as Leslie Wunderman ) is an American pop - and dance singer .

Career

Taylor Dayne began singing professionally after high school and completed classical vocal training at the Manhattan School of Music . At first she was the singer of the bands Felony and Next.

She later borrowed money from her father to produce the song Tell It to My Heart . This not only earned her a record deal with Arista Records in 1987 , but also became one of her greatest hits. Tell It to My Heart was published in July 1987 and immediately landed in the top five of many countries. In March 1988 it reached first place in Germany . Taylor Dayne also made it into the international charts in 1988 with the singles Prove Your Love , I'll Always Love You and Don't Rush Me from the album Tell It to My Heart . She was also nominated twice for a Grammy . On August 31, 1988 , Dayne was a guest singer on stage at an aftershow by Prince in Hamburg at Große Freiheit 36 .

In October 1989 she released her second album Can't Fight Fate . Although it fell short of international sales expectations, Dayne was able to secure her only top position in the Billboard Hot 100 in the USA with Love Will Lead You Back in the spring of 1990 . She also made it into the top 5 with the singles With Every Beat of My Heart and I'll be Your Shelter .

After a three-year hiatus, Dayne released the album Soul Dancing in July 1993 and was able to place itself at position 20 on the US charts with Can't Get Enough of Your Love . In the following years she also appeared as an actress on US television and was featured on the soundtracks to the films Shadow and the Curse of Khan (1994) and Popstar on Detours (2003) , among others .

In October 1998 the album Naked without You was released , with which it could no longer place itself in the US album charts. After nearly ten years, Dayne's album Satisfied was released in February 2008 . Producers included Rick Nowels and Don Was .

Dayne is also active as a composer . Her piece Whatever You Want , sung by Tina Turner , was also featured in the German charts. She is also successful in dance to this day. In 2010 she recorded the song Facing a Miracle for the eighth Gay Games in Cologne, which she also presented at the opening ceremony on July 31st. Her single Floor on Fire was released on June 22, 2011 .

In February 2019, Dayne's memoir Tell It to My Heart: How I Lost My S # * T, Conquered My Fear, and Found My Voice was published .

Private

Taylor Dayne has been a mother to twins since 2002, to whom a surrogate mother gave birth. She lives in Los Angeles .
