Andrew Roachford
Andrew Roachford (born January 22, 1965 in London ) is a British musician of West Indian descent.
biography
He started playing the piano as a young boy. According to his own statements, his career began in 1979. He was then accompanied by his uncle Bill Roachford, a well-known jazz saxophonist. During the 1990s he was the driving force behind the band Roachford, with whom he achieved the greatest success in 1989 when the single Cuddly Toy reached number four in the UK charts . He released his first solo album Roachford in 1988. In 2005, the album Word of Mouth , which was produced by Mousse T. 's label Peppermint Jam , followed. The album Addictive was released in Germany in September 2011.
Andrew Roachford has been the singer with Mike & the Mechanics since 2010, succeeding Paul Carrack . He shares the vocals with the Canadian singer Tim Howar and released the album The Road with the band in 2011 .
In June 2019 Andrew Roachford was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his achievements . He was awarded the medal in January 2020.
