John Robinson (drummer)

John “JR” Robinson (born December 29, 1954 in Creston , Iowa ) is one of the most recorded drummers in the music business.

Beginnings

John began taking piano lessons at the age of five and only got into drums three years later. He had his first band when he was 10 and soon afterwards decided that he wanted to become a professional drummer. He attended Berklee College of Music in Boston and by chance met members of the band " Rufus and Chaka Khan " in 1978 , who soon hired him as the new drummer. Word of his talent spread quickly and in the same year Quincy Jones booked him for the sessions on the Michael Jackson album " Off the Wall "

In 1983 he won a Grammy with Rufus and Chaka Khan for the song “ Ain't Nobody ”. In 2014 Mike Oldfield released his 25th studio album, Man on the Rocks, starring Robinson.
