Wilson Phillips is an American girl group . It consists of the sisters Carnie Wilson and Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips . The group was very successful between spring 1990 and autumn 1992 and featured in the charts worldwide with several titles.
In the USA in particular, there was a real fan hysteria at that time that was otherwise only known from boy groups. Their fame also comes from their celebrity parents, because the Wilson sisters are the daughters of Brian Wilson ( The Beach Boys ), Chynna Phillips the daughter of John and Michelle Phillips ( The Mamas and the Papas ).
Career
All three members of the group grew up in Southern California and have been friends since childhood. They got their first record deal in the summer of 1989. They worked with producer Glen Ballard ( SBK Records ), who also produced Michael Jackson and Alanis Morissette .
Her debut album Wilson Phillips , released in March 1990, was a great success, selling over twelve million copies. Five singles were released, all of which were on the Billboard charts , three of which even landed at number 1. It brought the group five Grammy nominations and two nominations for the American Music Award . The second album Shadows and Light , released in June 1992, was also successful with two million records sold.
A greatest hits album was released in mid-2000 . They had their first joint appearance since their separation in 2001 as part of the All Star Tribute to Brian Wilson , where they sang the song You're So Good to Me . The group officially reunited in the spring of 2004 with the release of the album California . They then sing songs by the Beach Boys and Mamas and the Papas, among others.
In autumn 2010, the group followed suit with Christmas in Harmony . In 2011 the trio made a guest appearance in the hit comedy film Bridal Alarm . In April 2012 the album Dedicated was released. It includes cover versions of songs by the Beach Boys and the Mamas and the Papas, which were composed by Brian Wilson and John Phillips.
