Beaucoups of Blues is Ringo Starr's second studio album after the Beatles split up . It was released in Great Britain (USA: September 28, 1970) on September 25, 1970.

History of origin

Ringo Starr had during the recording sessions for George Harrison's album All Things Must Pass the pedal steel guitarist Pete Drake met. Ringo Starr knew that Drake had worked with Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan and his goal was to record a country music album in London in a few days . Drake convinced Ringo Starr, also due to financial considerations, to move the planned recording sessions to Nashville ( USA ). Ringo Starr selected Pete Drake as producer, who asked country music composers to compose songs for a Ringo Starr album, and he also organized the recording dates so that Ringo Starr came to Nashville on June 22, 1970 and again on July 1, 1970 flew back to England.

The accompanying musicians selected were known in US country music; Elvis Presley's drummer , DJ Fontana , and his former background vocalists The Jordanaires were also there; former Elvis Presley guitarist Scotty Moore acted as the sound engineer on this album. The recordings took place from June 25-27, 1970. Ringo Starr himself only contributed one composition Coochy Coochy . This song was released in abbreviated form as the B-side of the single Beaucoups of Blues , the previously unreleased original version is 28 minutes long. Two more tracks were recorded: Nashville Jam was also abbreviated in 1995 (like Coochy Coochy ) on the CD version. Another song The Wishing Book has not been released officially, but only on bootlegs .

Cover design

The hinged LP cover was designed by John Kosh. The cover photos were taken by Marshall Fallwell Jr. in Nashville .
