Liverpool 8 is the 27th album or the 15th studio album by Ringo Starr after the Beatles split up . It was released on January 14, 2008 in Europe (USA: January 15, 2008).

History of origin

After the release of his last studio album Choose Love in July 2005, Ringo Starr stuck to his musical concept; so the album Liverpool 8 wanted to produce the fifth studio album, which Mark Hudson and Ringo Starr together. During the work on the album, however, there were differences between Ringo Starr and Mark Hudson, so that David A. Stewart finished producing the album with Ringo Starr. The CD booklet says “Re-Produced by: Ringo Starr and David A. Stewart”; so it can be assumed that other songs on the album have been musically revised again. Ringo Starr also announced the end of the collaboration with his backing band The Roundheads.

Most of the compositional work was again carried out by Ringo Starr, Mark Hudson, Steve Dudas and Gary Burr. The recording times for the album are not documented, they probably stretched over the years 2006 to 2007.

In 2006, Ringo Starr also toured with the All-Starr Band, singing the song Sweet Little Sixteen as a duet with Jerry Lee Lewis , which was released in October 2006 on Jerry Lee Lewis ' album Last Man Standing .

The title song Liverpool 8 pays homage to his hometown with partly autobiographical text. Some songs on the album are partly reminiscent of the music of the Beatles. Liverpool 8 was Ringo Starr's eighth album to be released by EMI .

Cover design

The cover was designed by Paul Moore. The cover photos are from Brian Griffin. The CD is accompanied by an illustrated twelve-page booklet containing information about the album.
