Choose Love is the 24th album or the 14th studio album by Ringo Starr after the Beatles split up . It was released in Europe on July 25, 2005 (USA: June 7, 2005).
History of origin
After the release of his studio album Ringo Rama in March 2003, Ringo Starr decided to continue the musical concept. It is the fourth studio album that Mark Hudson and Ringo Starr produced together. Most of the compositional work was again carried out by Ringo Starr, Mark Hudson, Steve Dudas, Gary Burr and Dean Grakal.
The little information about the album comes from an interview with Ringo Starr and Mark Hudson, which can be found on the web links listed; so the album was originally just supposed to be called Love .
Oh My Lord is a musical answer to the song My Sweet Lord by George Harrison . The recording times for the album are not documented, they probably stretched over the years 2004 to 2005. In 2004 and 2005 Ringo Starr was not on tour with the All-Starr Band. Finally, the songs were mixed in the Dave Way at Way Station Studios.
Overall, the album seems less rock-oriented than the previous album.
Choose Love was Ringo Starr's fourth album to be released on Koch Records .
Cover design
The cover was designed by Tyrone Drake. The cover photos were from Barbara Bach . The CD comes with an illustrated eight-page booklet that contains information about the album.
