Hailo-Werk Rudolf Loh GmbH & Co. KG is a German company with headquarters in Haiger (Flammersbach district) near Dillenburg in Hesse . The company was founded in 1947 and produces ladders and garbage cans for household and business, organization systems and waste separation systems for kitchens as well as professional climbing technology and fall protection for buildings and entrances of all kinds. Hailo belongs to the Joachim Loh group of companies and employs around 370 people at the Haiger location.

Company history

In 1947, the then 33-year-old mechanical engineer Rudolf Loh founded the metal goods factory Rudolf Loh GmbH . Together with his wife Irene Loh and three employees, he began manufacturing medical furniture, metal beds and hot water bottles. Two years later, the series production of hot water bottles was 100,000 units. In the following years the range was expanded to include watering cans and rubbish bins. 1953 saw the market launch of the first built-in trash cans for built-in kitchens . In 1955, Hailo developed the first stair stool for sitting and climbing and further developed the range with tubular steel household ladders.

In 1960, Hailo was the first to host a aluminum - household ladder on the market. The new product weighed less than the tubular steel ladders customary at the time, which made it attractive to use. The material aluminum found its way into rung ladders for house and garden in the following years.

After Rudolf Loh's death in 1971, his son Joachim Loh took over the company.

1983 saw the market launch of the first ironing board with integrated socket, cable holder and parking space for the iron, 1985 the market launch of the first waste separation system for fitted kitchens, at the same time Hailo developed the first rung ladder with level compensation for sloping terrain.

In 1998, the Hailo Professional division was founded, which produces fixed ladders and access technology made of aluminum, steel and stainless steel for industry and the building trade. In 2003, Hailo received a major order to equip all toll gantries in Germany and Austria with ladders.

In 2001, Hailo took over Eisenwerk Sauerland in Drolshagen , a well-known manufacturer of rubbish bins. In 2009, the company took over the ladders / stepladder production division from Leifheit , while at the same time outsourcing the steam ironing systems division to Leifheit.

At the beginning of 2009, the family business passed into the third generation of owners: Joachim Loh handed over management to his son Sebastian Loh.

Today, Hailo is a global company that sells its products in over 60 countries.

In 2013, the Hailo Professional-Wind division, which produces fixed ladders and service lifts for equipping wind turbines, is spun off. The newly founded Hailo Windsystems GmbH & Co. KG moves into its new domicile in the nearby industrial area "Kalteiche".

In 2017 Hailo celebrates its 70th anniversary. In the course of the celebrations, the newly built Hailo World with a museum, outlet and exhibition will be opened in Haiger.

The name Hailo is an abbreviation of the Haiger location and the company's founder Rudolf Loh.

The characteristic red dot of the company logo was developed in 1961 by Rudolf Loh and the industrial designer Ernest Igl . From then on, the logo was a typical product feature and initially even served as joint protection on the ladders. After several optical adjustments, the red Hailo Punkt received its design that is still valid today in 1979, under the direction of Joachim Loh. The circular logo currently contains the brand name in white, italic font on a red background.
