The Leifheit AG is a listed manufacturer of household goods and accessories headquartered in Nassau an der Lahn . Leifheit AG shares have been listed on the German stock exchange in the Prime Standard since 1984 .

history

The company was founded in 1959 by Ingeborg and Günter Leifheit in Nassau as "Günter Leifheit KG". The following year the production of carpet sweepers started. The first foreign branch was opened in the Netherlands in 1966 , and the wiper manufacturer Sooger in Solingen was taken over in 1967 . In 1968, a pull-out clothes dryer (hanger) was launched - one of the company's most successful products to this day. In the following year a branch was established in France .

In 1972, Leifheit was taken over by the New York ITT Corporation. The opening of a British branch followed. Two years later, the founding couple withdrew from managing the company. After opening additional branches in Switzerland and Italy , Deutsche Bank floated the company on the stock exchange in 1984. Further branches in Spain and Belgium followed. From 1988 to 2013 baking equipment was licensed under the “ Dr. Oetker Backgeräte ”. With the takeover of the Swiss spirella AG , the entry into the bathroom sector also took place in 1988, which was achieved in 1989 through the acquisition of the bathroom textiles factory BTF in Bremen (brand "Kleine Wolke") and in 1993 through the companies Semer in Düren acquired from Gold-Zack Werke AG as well as the Bathroom business of Nitex GmbH in Wedemark was added.

In 1995 another plant was built in Blatná ( Czech Republic ) and a branch was opened in Austria . A year later, Leifheit Asia Ltd. founded in Hong Kong . This was followed by takeovers of FRZ-Metallwarenfabrik Ruschitzka GmbH & Co. KG ( Zuzenhausen near Heidelberg) and the Meusch Group. The Leifheit AG owns majority shares in the French Birambeau (based in Paris and production in Chablis ). The Soehnle brand (scales and relaxation products), which was originally based in Murrhardt , has also been part of the Leifheit Group since 2001 . In 2008 the leading French manufacturer of tumble dryers, Herby , was acquired. In 2010, the bathroom division (Kleine Wolke, Meusch and Spirella) was sold. Today, the company focuses exclusively on household products in the categories of cleaning, laundry care, kitchen and wellbeing (Soehnle scales & wellbeing products).

In the 2018 financial year, the group achieved earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of 13.1 million euros. The result for the period was 8.4 million euros. The equity ratio as of December 31, 2018 was 45.9 percent. The company employed 1,134 people at the end of 2018. A dividend of EUR 1.05 per share was paid out for the 2018 financial year.
