Günter Leifheit

Günter Leifheit (born December 13, 1920 in Wetter an der Ruhr ; † July 2, 2009 in Lugano ) was a German entrepreneur.

Günter Leifheit founded the cleaning and kitchen equipment manufacturer Günter Leifheit KG in Nassau an der Lahn , today's Leifheit AG, together with his wife Ingeborg . He became known in post-war Europe for tumble dryers , irons and scrubbers . In 1973 he sold the company.

The city of Nassau made Leifheit an honorary citizen in 1991; Since 2003 there is the "Günter-Leifheit-Kulturhaus" in Nassau. In 2006 he received the Order of Merit of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate .

The Garmisch-Partenkirchen community received 50 million euros from Günter Leifheit's inheritance as a foundation asset with the condition that it be used for old residents and residents in need of care. The municipality plans to set up an academy for nursing professions with a link to a university. Caritas and the Rummelsberger Diakonie are under discussion as sponsors .
