In the beginning there were the new school books designed by the artist Ernest Igl, then came the handicrafts in all materials. From these successes, the design ability grew in small-scale industry, packaging design of branded goods and patent developments up to body shaping for commercial vehicles such as excavators, loading wagons, forklifts, road rollers, caterpillars, combine harvesters and tractors. The work extended to 20 industries for companies in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands, USA and France.

The artist was not a designer. Supported only by craftsmen, he designed and manufactured models up to a size of 10 m in a 400 m² studio. Its principle: to reduce ideas from three-dimensionality to two-dimensional flatness through unwinding, in order to then transform them into three-dimensional messages through new deformation - as a synthesis of the analysis. With a commercial training and graduation from the Karlovy Vary Commercial Academy, commercial ideas of industrial design were no stranger to him. In 1970, on an artistic mission, he designed the legendary 'igl jet' desk as a revolution against "a furniture style prescribed by woodworking machines - smooth, angular, pompous, aggressive and repulsive." A patent pending for this desk has been filed in the USA. The desk was z. B. years ahead of its time in terms of ergonomics: bevelled edge on the seat side. The igl jet was reissued in 2008 and is made according to the original dimensions in a limited edition in Upper Bavaria. Both then and now there are few tables that surpass the igl jet in terms of exclusivity.

Ernest Igl was an all-rounder in industrial design. Work for Werndl was followed by jobs in mechanical engineering (Linde forklifts), the shoe industry (Romica), lighting (Hillebrand) and household goods (dishes)

Due to his versatile work approaches as a graphic artist, painter, stage designer and sculptor, he became a successful all-rounder with a broad approach to new ideas.
