Isay ( Scottish Gaelic : Ìosaigh , Old Norwegian : ise-øy ; German: "Eisinsel") is an island in the north of the Inner Hebrides in Scotland . It is located northwest of Skye in Loch Dunvegan Bay . The distance to Coral Beach on Skye is around one kilometer. To the northeast of Isay are the islets of Mingay and Clett .

Isay is 0.6 km²; the highest point is 28 meters.

Around 90 people lived on Isay in the 19th century. In the course of the Highland Clearances , the residents were evicted to make way for sheep.

In the 1980s, Isay was owned by the singer Donovan . Today the island is uninhabited. Isay, the Ascrib Islands and Loch Dunvegan have been a Natura 2000 area since 2005 to protect the seals ( Phoca vitulina ) living there .
