history

On April 1, 1961, the entrepreneur Rudolf Loh founded the Rudolf Loh Elektrogerätebau in Rittershausen next to the Hailo plant in Haiger . The motto of the new company was "Control cabinets immediately from stock". In 1968, the intercom system from sister company RITTO developed into a successful product. In the following year, Rudolf Loh Elektrogerätebau was renamed Rittal . This had something to do with the location in Rittershausen at the time. The new name is made up of Rittershausen and Dietzhölztal , i.e. the place and the community.

After the death of Rudolf Loh on April 21, 1971, his wife and his eldest son Joachim Loh took over the management. In the same year, Rittal Scandinavia was founded in Sweden, the first foreign subsidiary. In 1974 Joachim's younger brother Friedhelm became chairman of the management board at Rittal, and Joachim took over this position at Hailo . In 1976, Ritto split from Rittal and became an independent company. In 1983 the two companies Stahlo and LKH were founded in Haiger , in 1988 the company Sistec joined the group of companies. In 1989 the brothers separated the group of companies into two groups. Friedhelm Loh started with Rittal, Ritto, Stahlo, LKH and Sistec.

With the acquisition of Lampertz , a provider of IT security systems, in 1998 and the takeover of Eplan Software & Service , two new companies joined the group. Friedhelm Loh joined what was then Wiechers & Partner Datentechnik GmbH as early as 1986 . In March 1999, Harald and Renate Wiechers sell their company to Rittal, which has operated under EPLAN Software & Service GmbH & Co. KG since January 1, 2000 . EPLAN Software & Service develops the CAE solutions EPLAN Engineering Configuration, EPLAN Preplanning, EPLAN Electric P8, EPLAN Fluid, EPLAN Pro Panel, EPLAN Harness proD, EEC One and the EPLAN Data Portal, and offers services and concepts for the optimization of product development processes.

Loh Services was founded in Haiger in 2000 . This is the central service provider of the Friedhelm Loh Group, which is responsible for personnel, IT , accounting, controlling as well as security, energy, environment and buildings for the entire group. In 2002 the company Aluminal was founded, which was active in the field of galvanic coating with aluminum. Aluminal ceased operations on August 31, 2009 due to inefficiency. In 2006 the Friedhelm Loh Group took over Würz Energietechnik GmbH (today Würz Energy ). This takeover meant FLG's entry into the topic of renewable energy

In 2007 RITTO GmbH & Co. KG, which was founded in 1976 as a company of the Friedhelm Loh Group, was sold to the French group Schneider Electric .
