Premier League 2008/09

The Premijer Liga 2009/10 , which according to a sponsorship agreement is also called BHT Premijer Liga , was the tenth season of the highest Bosnian-Herzegovinian league of men. It began on August 1, 2009 and ends on May 22, 2010 with the 30th league round. The opening game was the matches between FK Velež Mostar and NK Travnik , FK Laktaši and FK Borac Banja Luka , FK Leotar Trebinje and FK Rudar Prijedor and NK Zvijezda Gradačac and HŠK Zrinjski Mostar .

The newcomers were FK Olimpik Sarajevo and FK Rudar Prijedor , who replaced the clubs NK Posušje and HNK Orašje which were relegated in the 2008/09 season.

In the 2009/10 season, as in previous years, sixteen clubs competed against each other in a total of 30 rounds. Each team played once at home and once away against each of the fifteen other teams. In the Premijer Liga, the sixteen teams played for four international starting places, a Champions League place, as well as two Europa League places for the placement and one for the cup winner. In addition, the last two had to relegate to the second highest division, the first division.

Fan riots

On October 4, 2009, before the game between NK Široki Brijeg and FK Sarajevo, there were massive riots between the respective fan groups, in which one supporter of FK Sarajevo was killed and 18 police officers and 15 supporters from both clubs were injured.
