In 1974 Borac qualified as a finalist of the Yugoslav Cup for the European Cup Winners' Cup 1975/76 , as the 1-0 victorious final opponent Hajduk Split took part in the European Cup as champions . In the European Cup, the team reached the 2nd round against US Rümelingen , in which they were eliminated against RSC Anderlecht .

In the 1987/88 season, Borac was the only second division team in history to win the Yugoslav Cup. In the final, record champions Red Star Belgrade were defeated 1-0.
