As a trainer and functionary
After the end of his active career, Buvač was head coach of SC Neukirchen from 1998 until his former teammate Jürgen Klopp , who had switched to the coaching bench at Mainz 05 a few months earlier, brought him back to Mainz as an assistant coach during the summer break in 2001 . Together with Klopp he moved to Borussia Dortmund for the 2008/09 season . During this time, BVB won two German championships, the DFB Cup, and was in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich in the 2012/13 season . After the 2014/15 season, Buvač left the club together with the resigned Klopp. At the beginning of October 2015 he followed him as assistant coach for Liverpool FC . On April 30, 2018, the club published a statement that it was taking a break until the end of the season for personal reasons. In January 2019, Liverpool ended their cooperation with Buvač after he did not return to his position.
Buvač has been sports director at Dynamo Moscow since February 2020 .
Trivia
On August 13, 2013, Buvač was introduced as the coach of the Republika Srpska national team after the Bosnian-Herzegovinian football association NFSBIH approved their application to host friendly matches against FIFA members. At the end of the year the first game against Serbia should take place in Banja Luka . However, on December 16, 2013, FIFA banned the game from being held.
