Rudar Prijedor ( Serbian - Cyrillic Рудар Приједор ) is a football club from the city of Prijedor in the north-west of Bosnia and Herzegovina , which plays in the country's second-highest league, the Prva Liga RS , in the 2016/17 season .
history
The association was founded in 1928 by miners in Ljubija . 1967 Rudar rose for the first time in the Second League of Yugoslavia and moved to the larger stadium in Prijedor . Rudar always played in the lower class in the former Yugoslavia and could never establish himself in higher leagues. Since the Bosnian War , the club played, with the exception of the 2007/08 season, in the first division of the Republika Srpska , which is now one of the two second leagues in Bosnia and Herzegovina .
The club's greatest success was during the Yugoslav Cup in 1989, when Rudar defeated FK Vardar Skopje and Vojvodina Novi Sad - with players like Siniša Mihajlović and Miroslav Tanga - and was only eliminated in the semi-finals against FK Velež Mostar .
In 2005, Rudar Ljubija joined forces with OFK Prijedor , with which they had been friends for a long time, shared the city stadium in Prijedor and sometimes formed gaming communities.
In 2009 Rudar was promoted to the Premijer Liga . After five seasons in the House of Lords, Rudar rose again in 2014 to the second-highest division in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The best placement in the first class was rank 9 in the season 2010/11.
In the 2014/15 season, Rudar was promoted to the Premijer Liga as a champion with 50 points.
