Omarska ( Serbian - Cyrillic Омарска ) is a village with about 323 inhabitants in Opština Prijedor in northwestern Bosnia and Herzegovina . The place is located south of the Kozara Mountains in the northwest of the Republika Srpska , about halfway between Prijedor and Banja Luka .
Omarska became internationally known during the Bosnian War due to several prison camps in and around the village. The prison camps were closed after international pressure.
Omarska has a train station on the Banja Luka – Dobrljin railway line .
