The Häkertor at night

The Häkertor (Polish Brama Straganiarska) was built in Gdansk 1481–1482. The building takes its name from Hökern , and the Gdansk fish market was nearby. It forms the end of the Häkergasse (ulica Straganiarska) on the Motława . The long bridge to the later fish bridge quay (Rybackie Pobrzeże) was built along it .

The gate is located between the residential buildings that were built later. The Gothic facade is flanked by octagonal slender turrets. On the outside above the pointed arch passage, the bas-reliefs made after 1457 with the coats of arms of Poland, Danzig and Prussia can be seen.

The Häkertor is used for residential purposes. The actor Zbigniew Cybulski lived there from 1959 to 1963 , as is remembered by a plaque. The Baltic Philharmonic is located on the opposite bank of the Motława River .
