The Bosnian-Herzegovinian football championship in 1996/97 was the third season of the highest Bosnian-Herzegovinian league in men's football since its independence from Yugoslavia . It began on July 17, 1996 and ended on May 24, 1997. For the last time, only Bosniak teams took part in the championship.

NK Čelik Zenica became champion for the third time in a row.
