The Serie A teams of the 2009/10 season

The Serie A 2009/10 was the 78th season in the top Italian football -Spielklasse of Lords. It started on August 22, 2009 and ended on May 16, 2010 with the delivery of the Scudetto, the Italian championship trophy. Champion was defending champion Inter Milan, who won the fifth championship in a row and his 18th overall.

A total of 20 teams took part in the championship, 17 of which played in Serie A last season. Furthermore, the promoted players from Serie B , AS Bari and FC Parma as well as the winner of the play-offs for entry into Serie A, AS Livorno , played for the championship.

The 20 clubs came from twelve different regions of Italy . The regions most frequently represented were Lombardy and Tuscany , which made up a total of three teams: Atalanta Bergamo , AC Milan and Inter Milan for Lombardy and Fiorentina, Siena and Livorno for Tuscany. Liguria , Lazio , Emilia-Romagna and Sicily each provided two teams, while Piedmont , Friuli-Venezia Giulia , Apulia , Veneto , Campania and Sardinia each provided one team.

AS Bari and Parma FC climbed safely out of series B on. AS Livorno qualified for Serie A through the playoffs.
