The Serie B teams of the 2008/09 season

The 2008/09 season of Serie B started on August 29, 2008 and ended on May 30, 2009. AS Bari won the Serie B championship and rose again to the top Italian division after eight years. The FC Parma and AS Livorno managed the direct promotion to the Serie A . The four promoted US Sassuolo Calcio , AS Cittadella , Salernitana Calcio and AC Ancona could all stay in the league. The top scorer was Francesco Tavano from AS Livorno with 24 goals this season. At the end of the season, the relegated AC Pisafiled for bankruptcy and started a new start in Serie D for the 2009/10 season .
