The Mantova 1911 Società Sportiva Dilettantistica (short: Mantova 1911 SSD) is an Italian football club founded in 1911 from the Lombard city ​​of Mantua . The club colors are red and white. The club's stadium is the Stadio Danilo Martelli , which has space for 14,884 spectators.

history

The association was founded in 1911. Mantova's most successful period was in the 1960s when they played in Serie A for seven seasons . At that time they were also known as Piccolo Brasile ( German  small Brazil ). Twice (1983 and 1994) bankruptcy was filed with the club and the game was stopped. In the 2004/05 season Mantova rose from the Serie C1 after prolonged abstinence in the Serie B on. In the following season, the club played in the playoff against FC Turin for promotion to Serie A. The Turin won out and AC Mantova remained in Serie B.

The 2009/10 season was not very successful and ended with 20th place, which was synonymous with relegation. Because of insolvency, the club had to be liquidated, however, and under the name of Mantova Football Club in the Series D start. Here succeeded in the sovereign rise in group B, whereby Mantua returned to the fourth highest division in Italy, the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione , (formerly Serie C2 ).

In 2017 Mantova Football Club went bankrupt . In the summer of that year the club was re-established under the name Mantova 1911 Società Sportiva Dilettantistica Srl . The club currently plays in the fourth-rate Serie D.
