Raúl Banfi , also known as Raoul Banfi , (born November 14, 1914 in Montevideo , † December 10, 1982 ) was a Uruguayan football player who played as a center forward .

Career

Raúl Banfi began his career in 1937 with the Argentine club Racing Club de Avellaneda . However, there are contradicting information here, because other sources such as RSSSF locate him at the start of his career with the Racing Club from Montevideo. He stayed there until he moved to the then Serie A club FC Modena in the 1939/40 season. In his first season in Modena, the club relegated to Serie B , where Banfi made the definitive breakthrough in the following season and scored 22 goals in 24 games. His accuracy led Juventus Turin to secure the services of the Uruguayan. In Turin, however, he was unable to prevail, which is why he returned to FC Modena after only one season. He completed his last two seasons in Italy in Serie B in 1946/46 for AC Mantova and in 1946/47 for AC Prato .
