Torbjörn Jonsson (born May 6, 1936 in Ljusne ) is a former Swedish football player .

Career

Jonsson moved from Ljusne AIK to IFK Norrköping in Allsvenskan when he was 17 . In 1960 he was awarded the Guldbollen as Sweden's Footballer of the Year and moved to Betis Sevilla that same year . There he only lasted six months and went to Italy for AC Florence . He then moved to AS Roma before moving to Italy in 1967 at AC Mantova , with whom he was relegated and reassigned in the meantime, and stayed with IFK Norrköping for another five years until 1972.

In 1955 he made his debut in the Swedish national team , but was not nominated for the 1958 World Cup in his own country. In the decisive qualifying game for the World Cup in England in 1966 Sweden against West Germany in front of a record crowd of more than 52,000 spectators in Stockholm's Råsundastadion , he scored the lead after conceding Uwe Seeler and Werner Kramer, but the hosts lost 2-1. He ended his national team career in 1968 after 33 international matches in which he played eleven times. He also played 6 international B matches between 1954 and 1958.
