Kristin Bengtsson

Kristin Bengtsson (born January 12, 1970 in Stockholm ), called "Kicki", is a Swedish football player . With two awards, in 1994 and 2004, she was the record holder of the Diamantbollen , the best player of the year in Sweden, until 2012 . She is one of the most successful players in Swedish football history and played for several years in the first Swedish league Damallsvenskan .

Career

Bengtsson started playing football at the age of seven. Her first club was IFK Viksjö , where she stayed for ten years. She later played for Landvetter IF , Öxabäck IF and Malmö FF Dam in Damallsvenskan. She then tried the Japanese club Suzuyo Shimitzu , Athene Moss in Norway and the US teams Carolina Courage and San Diego Spirit abroad.

After their return, Bengtsson ran again for Malmö FF Dam and Kopparbergs / Landvetter IF. From the 2004 season she played for Djurgården / Älvsjö and was able to celebrate the Swedish championship title in her first year for the club. After four years, she moved to Hammarby IF in 2008 .

In a total of 157 international matches for Sweden , Kristin Bengtsson took part in three World and European Championships and two Olympic Games. In 2003 she was part of the team that won the runner-up at the World Cup in the USA . At 33 years and 273 days, she is the oldest player to have made it to a World Cup final. She was Sweden's sole record player until March 9, 2009, then was overtaken by Victoria Svensson and replaced by her on March 11, 2009.
