Carolina Courage was an American women's soccer team from Cary , North Carolina that played in the Women's United Soccer Association . The team wore in 2001 its home games at Fetzer Field in which on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is located. In the 2002 and 2003 seasons, the home games took place in the SAS Soccer Park .
history
The franchise was founded in 2000 and began playing in 2001 in the newly created Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA). After the team finished only last in the first year, succeeded in the 2002 season with a victory in the final of the play-offs for the Founders Cup against Washington Freedom to win the title. In 2003, Carolina Courage finished seventh in the league and missed the play-offs.
After the league stopped playing due to financial problems, the team was dissolved in September 2003.
