Philadelphia Charge was an American women's soccer team from Villanova , Pennsylvania that played in the Women's United Soccer Association . The team wore its home games at Villanova Stadium on the campus of Villanova University in the Greater Philadelphia from.
history
The franchise was founded in April 2000 and began playing in the newly created Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) the following year . In the first season , the team finished fourth in the regular season, which entitles them to participate in the play-offs . There they failed in the semifinals at Atlanta Beat .
In the 2002 season Philadelphia reached the play-offs again with the second place after the regular season, but lost there again in the semifinals against Washington Freedom . The year 2003 was much less successful: the team finished eighth and last at the end of the season and thus missed the play-offs.
After the league stopped playing due to financial problems, the team was dissolved in September 2003.
