New York Power was an American women's soccer team from Uniondale , New York that played in the Women's United Soccer Association . The team played its home games at the Mitchel Athletic Complex .

history

On November 16, 2000, the names of the eight teams participating in the newly created Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) were announced, including New York Power as a team from the New York area .

In the first season of 2001 , the team finished third after the regular season and reached the play-offs . In the semifinals, however, the eventual winner Bay Area CyberRays failed . The following two seasons were less successful: In 2002, the team finished last due to some notable departures and many injuries, in 2003 the team narrowly missed the play-offs as fifth in the regular season.

After the league stopped playing due to financial problems, the team was dissolved in September 2003.
