The Women's United Soccer Association in 2002 was the second season of the US women's soccer league Women's United Soccer Association . The regular season began on April 13, 2002 and ended on August 11, 2002. The play-off round was played in the period from August 17 to 24, 2002. The champions of the league were the Carolina Courage team from North Carolina , who beat Washington Freedom 3-2 in the final .

Last year's champions, the Bay Area CyberRays, changed their name to San Jose CyberRays before the season started .
