The San Jose CyberRays were an American women's soccer team from San Jose that played in the Women's United Soccer Association . The team played their home games at Spartan Stadium , which is located on the campus of San José State University .

history

The Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) was founded in February 2000 and was the top division in women's football in the United States until 2003. The franchise, which was founded in 2000, was one of the founding members of the new league and began playing in April 2001.

In the first season, the team won the championship title ( Founders Cup ) by beating Atlanta Beat in the play-off finals .

Before the start of the 2002 season, the team changed their name from Bay Area CyberRays to San Jose CyberRays . The two following seasons were then much less successful, since with places 5 and 6 in the regular season, the entry into the play-offs was missed.

After the league stopped playing due to financial problems, the team was dissolved in September 2003.
