Peter Larsson (born March 8, 1961 ) is a former Swedish football player . In 1987 he was named Sweden's Footballer of the Year .

career

Larsson played at IF Hallby in his youth. In 1982 he moved to Halmstads BK , which he left after two seasons in the Allsvenskan in the direction of IFK Göteborg . Here he became Swedish champion for the first time in his first season. In the European Cup , the club made it to the semi-finals, but were eliminated on penalties despite a 3-0 win in the first leg against FC Barcelona .

In 1987 he played in both UEFA Cup finals against Dundee United and won the title after a 1-0 win in the first leg and a 1-1 draw in the second leg.

He was then signed by Ajax Amsterdam . Here he played from 1987 to 1991 and won the Dutch championship title in 1990. In 1991 he returned to Sweden and signed with AIK Solna . In 1992 he won his third Swedish championship. In 1994 he went to Korsnäs IF for a year before ending his career with Falu BS .

Larsson also played 47 caps for Sweden between 1983 and 1992 . He got two goals. At the 1990 World Cup , he completed all three games. However, as they lost to Brazil (1: 2), Scotland (1: 2) and Costa Rica (1: 2), the tournament was more than disappointing.
