Career

societies

Lindahl played for Linköpings FC between January 2005 and December 2008 and then moved to Kopparbergs / Göteborg FC for two years . From 2011 to 2014 she played for Kristianstads DFF . For the season she moved to the Chelsea Ladies in the English FA WSL . In her first season in England, with only ten goals conceded, she made a significant contribution to the first title for the Chelsea Ladies. In the 2015/16 UEFA Women's Champions League , she then failed in the round of 16 against the eventual finalists VfL Wolfsburg . And also in the following season , for which Chelsea had qualified as runner-up, was again against the Wolves, this time already in the sixteenth finals. In 2017/18 , the two only met in the semi-finals - again with the better end for the German team. After she was in goal in all the Chelsea Ladies' Champions League games, she will share the place in goal with German goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger in the 2018/19 season : both came in the first three knockouts. - Rounds used three times. After the 2019 Women's World Cup , she moved to the German champions VfL Wolfsburg . There she represented Almuth Schult and played 21 competitive games. In July 2020, Lindahl moved to the Spanish league at Atlético Madrid and signed a two-year contract there.

National team

After twelve U-23, seven U-19 and six U-17 games, she made her senior national team debut on January 25, 2002 in a 5-0 win over England. She participated with the Swedish national soccer team in the women's European championships in England in 2005 and in Finland in 2009, as well as in the 2007 women's soccer world championships in China and the Olympic Games in Beijing. As a regular goalkeeper for the national team, she was also nominated for the 2011 World Cup . She was used in all three preliminary round games and reached the quarter-finals unbeaten with her team, where they met the Australians , won against the Swedes 3-1 and thus reached both the semifinals against Japan and the qualification for the Olympic Games in London made perfect. In the semi-final against Japan, which was lost 3-1, she was "tunneled" at 1: 1 and at 1: 2 she seemed disoriented. At 1: 3 she was unlucky that her defensive attempt on the edge of the penalty area landed right in front of the feet of Nahomi Kawasumi and she carried the ball from 30 m with an arc lamp into the empty goal. On July 16, 2011, she and the team won the game for third place in the 2-1 victory over France . Lindahl was in the Swedish squad for the 2012 Olympic Games and was used in four games. In 2013 she took part with Sweden in the European Championship in her home country , but was not used. After only making five appearances in 2013, she was a regular goalkeeper again in 2014.

On August 3, 2014, she made her 100th international match as the second Swedish goalkeeper in a 4-0 friendly against England , in which she was substituted at 0-1 in the second half .

At the 2015 World Cup, she was used in all four games and made sure that her team advanced to the round of 16. She was also named the best player in the goalless draw against the USA . In the last 16 against Germany , she was able to prevent a deficit after just 20 seconds and was the only guarantee for her team that there was no debacle in the period that followed. It was only in the 24th minute that she was powerless against a distance protection from Anja Mittag and 12 minutes later she was also left behind with a penalty kick. She was able to prevent further goals at first, but then had to accept two more goals in the closing stages, both of which she looked unhappy. Sweden lost 4-1, which ended the World Cup for Sweden prematurely. As a result, the Swedes also missed direct qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games , but were able to catch up at the qualifying tournament in March 2016. At the Olympic Games, the Swedes made it to the quarter-finals as one of the two best thirds in the group, but then eliminated defending champions USA and then hosts Brazil on penalties . She was able to save two penalties against Brazil and one penalty against the USA. But in the final they lost again to Germany.

Shortly after the Olympics , she and her team qualified for the 2017 European Women's Football Championship , where they met Germany again in the first game and the two teams drew for the first time. Both were then eliminated in the quarter-finals against the eventual finalists Netherlands and Denmark .

In the subsequent qualification for the 2019 World Cup , she was used in the seven games played by the Swedes, remained clean five times and qualified with her team for the World Cup. On May 16, she was also nominated for the World Cup . At the World Cup, she was also used in all seven games, again not missing a minute. As group runner-up they reached the knockout round, where they secured the 1-0 win against Canada in the round of 16 with a saved penalty. In the quarter-finals, the Swedes won a competitive game against the German team after 24 years and thus qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games . In the semifinals they were defeated by European champions Netherlands after extra time, but then won the game for third place against England . With 20 World Cup appearances, she replaced Therese Sjögran as the Swedish World Cup record player.
