Ann-Katrin Berger (born October 9, 1990 in Göppingen ) is a German soccer player . The goalkeeper has been under contract with the Chelsea Ladies since January 2019 .
Athletic career
At the age of four, Ann-Katrin Berger started playing football at KSG Eislingen . As a C-youth she switched to FV Faurndau . With their first team, she made it to the top division of Baden-Württemberg in 2007 . A year later, Berger moved to the second division VfL Sindelfingen .
In the 2009/10 season Berger was runner-up with her team in the southern season. In summer 2011 she moved to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in the Bundesliga . She played her first Bundesliga game on August 21, 2011 against Hamburger SV . With Turbine, she won the German championship in 2012 and the DFB indoor cup in 2014 .
In 2014 Berger moved to the French Division 1 Féminine at Paris Saint-Germain . With the team she was twice runner-up behind the permanent title holder Olympique Lyon. In July 2016, Berger left Paris and moved to Birmingham City LFC in England , where she became a regular goalkeeper. With the club she reached the FA Cup final in 2017 .
Then in January 2019 the Chelsea Ladies went . For the rest of the season, however, she only made one appearance in the league and four in the 2018/19 UEFA Women's Champions League , where defending champions Lyon were one goal better in the semi-finals. After regular goalkeeper Hedvig Lindahl had switched to VfL Wolfsburg as a pregnancy substitute for the German national team goalkeeper Almuth Schult , Berger became the regular goalkeeper for the Blues .
National team
Berger completed a half-time in the game of the German U-19 national team against the selection of Australia on May 27, 2009 .
Personal
In November 2017, Berger was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
