The FV Vorwärts Faurndau is a soccer club from the district of Faurndau, which belongs to Göppingen .
The association was founded in 1922 in the Gasthaus Traube . The first board of directors at the time had the idea of giving the association an unusual name, which is still rare in the western federal states. Most of the documents were lost during the war and after a fire in 1993 .
Men's soccer
In 1971 the first men's team was promoted to the 2nd amateur league, and a women's team was founded in the same year. In the 1976/77 season , the men of FV Faurndau took part in the DFB Cup , but were defeated by FC Hanau 93 1: 4. Two years later, the men had to relegate to the newly established district league. After another relegation to the district league A Neckar / Fils, season 3 , the team will play again in the district league from the 2012/13 to 2017/18 season. Since the 2018/19 season, the FVF has been playing in the district league A Neckar / Fils again .
Women's soccer
The women and girls at FV Faurndau are much more successful. The girls won the South German championship several times. In 1992/93 , the women's team took part in the DFB Cup, and in the 1995/96 season they were promoted to the Baden-Württemberg football league for the first time . Until the withdrawal in summer 2016, the women's team was a fixture in the big leagues.
On August 19, 2016, the club announced that the team had completely withdrawn from the league for the 2016/17 season. The withdrawal was preceded by internal disputes.
