The German sports club football statistics (DSFS) is Germany's largest association for football - statisticians .

history

The DSFS was founded on July 1, 1971 as the organization of German football statisticians. It deals with the statistical recording of national and international football in the past and present . The DSFS is a registered non-profit association based in Wiesbaden . The entry in the club register took place in 1979. The club, which has around 400 members, also includes well-known football history authors such as Hardy Greens and members from European countries. The more than 200 active DSFS members are organized regionally. They are also the point of contact for regional and national media as well as for associations and clubs on the subject of football.

The results of his not-for-profit work are documented in over 260 books so far. The collected results, tables and statistics on clubs and players are published in them. The best known of these publications is the Jahrbuch Deutscher Fußball-Almanach (until 2009: Germany's football in numbers ). In addition, an archive is kept in which the data is collected and made available to members if necessary.

Organization and activities

The association is run by the board. It has six members and a managing director. In addition, several project managers are involved in day-to-day business.

The regional project management teams have the following structure:

  • the north region (Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Bremen),
  • the northeast region (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg, Berlin, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Saxony),
  • the West region (Westphalia, Lower Rhine, Middle Rhine),
  • the southwest region (Saarland, Rhineland, southwest),
  • the Hesse region,
  • the South region (Bavaria, North Baden, South Baden, Württemberg).

Other project and working groups deal with the following topics:

  • International football,
  • Cup Chronicle,
  • Bundesliga chronicle as well
  • Historical football before 1945.

There is a separate project group for the creation of the book Deutscher Fußball Almanach .

As a rule, the regional or working groups are further subdivided. So there are z. B. in the regional group north working group leader for state or district associations. In the regional / working groups, the following statistical data is researched, processed, archived and, if necessary, published in the form of books or e-books:

  • all results, final tables, game ratings and playoffs of all leagues and cup competitions from the area of responsibility for the respective current seasons,
  • all player squads (names, dates of birth, previous clubs, performance / goal statistics of all players), team lineups, goal scorers, spectators, cards and referees from the Bundesliga to the major leagues (level 5) and
  • Interesting evaluations: eternal tables, eternal lists of players and goalscorers, audience developments, series of wins and losses, seasons, etc.

The interests of the members are sometimes very different. A small working group is concerned with B. with football before 1945 . Books have been published on football from Silesia from 1900 to 1945 and on football in West Germany from 1902 to 1933. The Gauligen from 1933 to 1945 should not be missing either.

Many members do some very intensive archive work. You “rummage” through old newspapers in the various state, university or state libraries. With the help of modern technology, innumerable pieces of information are digitized and then subsequently processed, validated and fed into the DSFS archive or made available for book publications by staffs of interested members.

In addition to documenting the work results in books, the association publishes the DSFS magazine for its members 5 times a year . It contains detailed reports on what is happening in the association (reports from the board, reports from the regions, book reviews, etc.). With the magazine attachment, each member also receives various static data compilations. This data is created by members and prepared in a visually appealing way. They are often exceptional and cannot be found anywhere else.
