Ingrid Syrstad Engen (born April 29, 1998 in Melhus , Norway ) is a Norwegian soccer player who has played for the Norwegian women's national soccer team since 2018 and for VfL Wolfsburg since 2019 .
Career
societies
Engen played for the Norwegian first division club Trondheims-Ørn from 2014 , initially in the U-19 and second team in the 2nd division, but from June also in the 1st team in the top series . In the table, the club did not get beyond a midfield position. For the 2018 season she switched to master Lillestrøm SK Kvinner . With Lillestrøm, she won the Norwegian championship and the Norwegian football cup in 2018. She also played for Lillestrøm for the first time in the 2018/19 UEFA Women's Champions League , where Lillestrøm lost twice to the women of FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals. For the 2019/20 season she moved to the German champions VfL Wolfsburg .
National team
Engen took part in the U-17 European Championship in June 2015 , but Norway was eliminated in the group stage. A year later, she took part with the U-19 team in the 2016 U-19 European Football Championship for women in Slovakia , but was also eliminated there as third in the group. She then also took part in the two qualifying rounds for the U-19 European Women's Football Championship in 2017 , but the Norwegians could not qualify for these despite their home advantage in the elite rude. Then she played four more games with the U-23 team
On February 28, 2018, she came in the first group game of the Algarve Cup 2018 two months before her 20th birthday for her first international match in a 3: 4 against Australia . She came on when the score was 3-1 in the second half. Two days later she was in the starting line-up in the 2-0 win against China and scored the first goal. In the third group game, in which the Norwegians lost to Portugal for the first time, they were not used. But then she was in the starting line-up in the game for 7th place. The game against South Korea was canceled after the half-time break due to storms and not continued. It is therefore not counted in their international match statistics. Then it was used in five qualifying games for the 2019 World Cup . She scored the first goal to win the 2-1 victory in the last and decisive match for group victory against European champions Netherlands . She was also used in the next games and achieved her first tournament success at the Algarve Cup 2019 . On May 2, she was nominated for the 2019 World Cup . At the World Cup, she was used in the five Norwegian games. With a 3-0 defeat against England in the quarter-finals, she and her team were eliminated and thus also missed the 2020 Olympic Games .
