Melhus is a municipality in central Norway .
It is located around 20 km south of Trondheim on the E6 . In the center are the town hall, the train station and several department stores. A few years ago, barracks owned by the Wehrmacht were demolished. The village of Korsvegen , which lies on Lake Gaustadvatnet, belongs to Melhus . In Melhus and the surrounding area (as in Trondheim) the Vikings were already active; this also explains the coat of arms. The Gaula , a well-known and productive salmon river, flows through Melhus .
