Olav Vigdeild had his chief residence in Viktil near Frosta. The farm was located southwest of the Viking Harbor in Fånestangen. He lived in the first half of the 13th century and was perhaps the greatest chief that Frosta produced. In the Middle Ages there was an important place where one of Norway's first written laws, Frostathingslov , was passed.
