Midtre Gauldal is a municipality in Fylke Trøndelag in Central Norway .

It is located around 50 km south of Trondheim in the mountains and includes several places in the valley of the Gaula River and some side valleys. The administrative center and largest town is Støren ; other settlements are Budal , Singsås and Soknedal .

The Gaula , Sokna and Bua rivers are known for their abundance of salmon.
