Tydal is a municipality in central Norway .
It is located in the mountainous interior on the border with Sweden. There are several hydroelectric plants in Tydal ; the importance of this branch of industry for the community can also be read from its coat of arms, on which three stylized power poles can be seen.

In the 2015 elections, Mayor Kari Slungård ( V ) was replaced by Ole Bjarne Østby ( Sp ).
