Noelle Maritz (born December 23, 1995 in Newport Beach , California ) is a Swiss soccer player and has played for Arsenal Women FC since 2020 . Since 2013 she has been a national player for the Swiss national football team .

Life

Noelle Maritz was born in California in 1995 and grew up in Newport Beach, CA and Hillsborough, NJ. In New Jersey, she attended Hillsborough Elementary School in Somerset County and played football and baseball for the local club . In 2005 she returned with her family from New Jersey to the Canton of Thurgau ; henceforth she lived in alders .

Football career

Noelle Maritz started her career in her native USA at the age of four in Newport Beach, California. When the family moved to the east coast, she moved to the Players Development Academy in New Jersey. After playing up to U-13 in the USA, she returned to the land of her ancestors, Switzerland , in the summer of 2006 . There she first played for the local club FC Amriswil in the D-Jugend , before moving to FC Staad in the summer of 2007 . There she was able to recommend herself for the Swiss youth team and spent three years in the training center of the Swiss Football Association in Huttwil. At the same time, Maritz played at FC Wil in competitive youth football with the boys U13, U14 and U15. After these three years she signed her first player contract with FC Zurich Women for the 2011/2012 season . There she made her senior debut in the National League A on August 6, 2011 against SC Schwyz . She played 28 games in two years and scored one goal for Zurich in the NLA before signing with the German triple winner VfL Wolfsburg on May 20, 2013 . In his first year at VfL Wolfsburg, Maritz played 15 of 22 Bundesliga games and won the double with the club this season, consisting of the championship and the Champions League. For the 2020/21 season, she moved to Arsenal .

National team

Noelle Maritz has been a Swiss national player since 2013 and made her A international debut on March 6, 2013 against the Canadian national team in the Cyprus Cup . In 2013/14 Maritz qualified with the Swiss national team for the 2015 World Cup in Canada, where she was on the starting line-up in each of the four World Cup games.
